FOUNDATION PHASE LITERACY & LANGUAGE TEACHER TRAINERS (AFRICAN HOME LANGUAGE AND ENGLISH FIRST ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE) FOR INCLUSION IN MOLTENO DATABASE

Molteno is looking for experienced Foundation Phase literacy and language teacher trainers to add to our human resources database. The incumbent should have expertise in the delivery of (at least) one African Home Language curriculum, as well as the English First Additional Language (EFAL) curriculum for Grades 1, 2 and 3. Knowledge of the Foundation Phase Mathematics curriculum would be an added advantage.

 

Job requirements

  • A post-graduate degree in Education, specialising in any African Home Language and in English First Additional Language
  • Expert knowledge of the Foundation Phase Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS)
  • Broad understanding of the Basic Education environment in South Africa
  • Previous teacher training experience
  • Previous teacher coaching experience
  • Experience in Foundation Phase Literacy and Maths intervention projects and studies, such as the GPLMS, EGRS and PSRIP, would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, training adult learners
  • High level of competency in verbal communication and presentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and motivational skills
  • A vibrant and energetic personality
  • Good problem-solving abilities
  • Competency in written communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Own transport and valid unendorsed Code 8 driver’s licence for extensive travel

 

Core job activities

  • Participate in train-the-trainer sessions aimed at enhancing personal professional growth and development
  • Attend master-trainer sessions in preparation for teacher training
  • If required, assist in the development of training materials
  • Train teachers in African Home Language and EFAL literacy (and Maths if required)
  • Provide reports on training experiences
